Looks good huh! I saw several different recipies online, most of them using pound cake or cupcakes with coconut flakes on top. However, I thought it would be less messy to use rice krispie treats, easy to work with and they have the same texture as regular sushi, even if they are not pure white.
For my sushi you will need:
- one box of rice krispie treats or make your own!
- purple or green fruit role-ups
- orange jelly beans
- one bag of swedish fish
- one bag of mixed red and black licorice pieces
For the sushi fish pieces, I cut a rice krispie treat hot-dog style, placed a fish on the top, and wrapped fruit roll-up around it. For the other pieces, I cut a rice-krispie treat hamburger style to make a more square-shape. I wrapped the fruit roll-up around it. Then for some, I cut orange jelly beans in half to make fish eggs. For the others, I smushed a red and black licorice piece into the center. Thats it! It is as truely easy as it sounds. Try experimenting with other candy, shapes, or materials for other looks!
Presentation wise, I got green paper grass to place around, which I found at a japanese dollar store, but could probably be found at most any store.
and thats it! After my trip, I will post beach pictures, so keep on reading!
