Magnet Madness!

I haven't posted in awhile as I have been busy with several things, but to escape the summer heat, crafts seem like a better option than baking outside in 105 degree weather (which is 35 degrees too hot for me). So here is my latest craft project.

MAGNETS!

I made these earlier in the year but I used the wrong glue and they did not turn out as well as I would have liked. I had some leftover materials and a blank whiteboard I'm going to bring next year for school so I got to work.

I used a liquid glue that dries clear, glue stick doesn't work because it leaves those unattractive smears (seriously, glue stick doesn't work for anything) and clear flat glass marbles that you see in floral arrangements and fish tanks. I also bought circle magnets the same size of the marbles. I glued the magnets on the images that I wanted, cut them out, and then used a very strong glue to attach them to the magnets. The problem I ran into earlier was that the magnets were too strong and the marbles would rip off when I used the magnets. It's not necessary to use super glue or anything like that, but certainly stronger than the clear glue for the paper or a glue stick (heaven forbid).

Here are the finished products. It took me forever to get good shots, the lights reflect off the marbles very easily, but here they are!

Psychedelic!

I wish the image quality was better, lousy camera, but I'm pretty sure its a closer image if you click on it.

Musical Magnets!

The music ones were particularly fun to make as there is so much to choose with time signatures, different notes, and rhythms.

Vintage Ladies! (or as Allan calls them, Vintage Vixens :P)

I really like the head shots on these ones, although disappointed they don't show as well in the picture. However, they are my favorite and I will probably use these in my room. The rest I will most likely use as gifts or something like that. Maybe make some for other people upon request, it's very satisfying to make dozens of colorful magnets to put everywhere :). They allow me to be creative and work with lots of images and themes, which I enjoyed.

My next project which I finished today was a lightswitch cover, which I will most likely post about tommarow. I also have several jewelry ideas and more crafts on the way.

EDIT: New pictures with a much better camera :)

haha. Glue sticks are basically a ploy to get people to have to buy more than one product. You buy a glue stick, then realize they are good for absolutely nothing and have to buy glue that actually works. It's a great system.

Sweet magnets! They look really cool.

How long has it been that hot there? I'm baking down here as well.

gosh and then you use a gluestick for a tri-fold only to bring it to school and realize that your stuff is falling off, its evil, i tell you!

for a few days now, its all over the news, people are freaking out
